Steve Jobs’s run at Apple has been exceptional. As CEO, he took an also-ran tech company and turned it into the most valuable company in the world, introducing a lot of cool technology, along the way.
But, while the world of technology struggles to figure out what Jobs’ announcement means for the future of Apple, it’s clear that Jobs’ achievements at Apple are more than the Mac, the iMac, the iPhone or the iPad.

Did Apple TV just stop being Steve Jobs’ ‘hobby’ and move on to being a major new business for Apple? Apple has announced that it expects sales of its new Apple TV to top one million units later this week. Not that Apple has sold a million unts – but that it expects to reach […]

Remember when Apple was the king of tools for creating your own media and it was hyping podcasting and user-generated media? When Steve Jobs bragged about the company hitting milestones with its iTunes podcast directory? When it added podcasting support to Mac OS X? And when podcasting was a selling point for Garageband? It looks […]

Apple CEO Steve Jobs today introduced the Apple iPad – a new multimedia pad that promises to carve out a new category for mobile computing. “This is best gadget ever made,” says early user Jason Calacanis, “and NOT overhyped.” * It’s conceptually a large iPod touch – but it’s really a new operating system, optimized […]

Two recent Apple introductions – iTunes LP & Apple TV – are interesting technologies but have failed to wow customers. The main reason for this has been a lack of content. Only a tiny number of albums are available as iTunes LP releases. And Apple TV is crippled by the paucity of content on it. […]

A still skeletal Steve Jobs today made a bunch of ho-hum MacBook introductions, most notable for killing off Firewire and introducing a new manufacturing process. Along the way, though, he said something interesting about Blu-Ray HD DVDs: “Blu-ray is just a bag of hurt,” said Jobs. “It’s great to watch the movies, but the licensing of […]

Apple’s Let’s Rock event today offered anticipated updates to the iTunes and Apple’s iPod lines, but failed to do two things that many were hoping for: eliminate concerns over Steve Jobs’ health and offer “one more thing” – an unexpected introduction with some “wow”. Jobs noted wryly that “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated,” […]

Several sources are reporting, unofficially, that Apple will be introducing a new version of iTunes next Tuesday. While this is an unofficial rumor, it seems likely, since it’s been close to 2 years since iTunes 7 was released. Here’s a rundown of expected features for iTunes 8: Genius iTunes 8 includes Genius, which makes playlists […]

Apple has sent out invitations for a Sept 9 event in San Francisco. While the “Let’s Rock” event is sure to offer new iPods, there are two more important questions I’m interested to see answered: Will Jobs address concerns about his health? His last appearance has left people questioning his health, to the point that […]
