Yahoo Takes Podcasts Webby

This is the first year that a Podcasts Webby is being awarded.

Podcasters Launch New P3P Format E3 Site
May 10th, 2006 | By James Lewin | Category: Audio Podcasting, News PodcastsOrange Lounge Radio, an internet radio station and podcast dedicated to “what gamers really want to know”, has announced the launch of a spin-off site, E3ONPSP.
The new site is dedicated to bringing the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) experience to the web browser in Sony’s Playstation Portable (PSP), and will feature news and podcasts from the show. While the site is formatted for optimal browsing with a P3P, it will work with any standard Web browser.
E3ONPSP also features P3P-formatted maps of the show floor, so that P3P users can find their way to their favorite booth with just a few button clicks.
Orange Lounge Radio plans to update the site frequently during E3, and then update it after the show has ended with additional videos and images that the staff completes after the show.

The podcast is a newsfeed that lets users subscribe to WikiNews and have a PDF version of the newspaper delivered each day.

Wikinews is produced by a group of volunteer journalists whose mission is “to create a diverse community where citizens from around the globe (including you) can collaborate to report the news on a wide variety of current events.”

She’s using a video blog (Daryl Hannah’s Love Life) and indie documentaries to cover what’s happening in the area of green lifestyles and “extreme activism.”
“The fact that there’s not any really progressive green show on television right now is bizarre. There are a lot of people in the TV industry who are interested in the field, but when I approach them about doing something, everyone’s like, ‘Oh, it’s a niche market.’ Well that’s bull–.”
Urban India Jumps on Podcast Bandwagon

“The podcasting arena is very democratic. It’s open to anyone, anybody can upload podcasts to the web and people will come and listen to it. If they like it, they will leave you messages,” says Vitek Goyel, an Indian podcast listener.
The NDTV article looks at both podcasters and podcast listeners.
Aditya and Abhishek Kumar host an “indi” talk show, the Indicast.
“I was wondering why would someone take 15 minutes from their day to listen to two ordinary guys talk about ordinary things. But I was surprised when I read the messages,” says Abhishek.
UK Telegraph Promotes Podcasting to Front Page

Akamai Adding Podcast Delivery Services

In February of this year, PodShow, the podcasting startup founded by Adam Curry, announced a partnership with Limelight Networks to create the Podcast Delivery Network. Akamai’s announcement helps establish podcast delivery as a legitimate corporate service offering.

Nokia Plans Mobile Podcasting App

The initial release focuses on providing a mobile podcasting client that will be able to manual and automatic updates of podcasts over 3G or WLAN networks.
However, Nokia plans to develope the application to be a mobile podcast publishing platform.
