Audio equipment manufacturer TASCAM has released a new recording application for the Apple iPad. The Portastudio is based on – and nearly the same dimensions as – the TASCAM Porta One four-track cassette recorder that debuted back in 1984. The Portastudio app records four tracks, one at a time, with VU meters and a virtual […]

Earlier in the year, we suggested that, with the iPad and other iOS devices, Apple is forking the Web: The iPad isn’t about Web-applications – it’s about Internet-enabled applications. Instead of the one-size-fits-all approach of the computer Web browser, Apple is creating a platform of dedicated apps that do one thing really well. In other […]

As if Adobe needed another nail in the Flash is dead tombstone – a zero-day Flash vulnerability has been identified and announced by Adobe: A critical vulnerability exists in Adobe Flash Player 10.0.45.2 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris operating systems, and the authplay.dll component that ships with Adobe Reader and Acrobat […]

Apple today proved the naysayers wrong, announcing that it had sold 2 million iPads in less than 2 months. In fact, Apple is still struggling to keep up for demand. “Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” says Steve Jobs, Apple’s […]

This video presents Popular Science + –  the first digital magazine from publisher Bonnier’s ongoing project to rethink the way magazines can be read on devices like the Apple iPad. With Popular Science +, the publisher is trying to define “the future of digital magazines.” The demo is slick – but also seems completely misguided. […]

Mashable today highlighted a site called iPad Peek, calling it a “nifty tool that lets you see how any website will be rendered on the iPad.” It sounds like a good idea, Unfortunately, iPad Peek doesn’t do much more than put a pretty iPad picture frame around the site you want to test. iPad Peek […]

WordPress.org has released and updated version of WordPress for iPhone – making it compatible with the Apple iPad. The new version, officially WordPress for iPhone OS, isn’t a leap forward in terms of features – but the extra screen real estate available on the iPad makes a huge difference. Where editing blog posts on the […]

Entrackment (App Store link) is a $2.99 app for the Apple iPad that turns it into a wireless control surface for GarageBand. If you create podcasts in GarageBand and you’ve got an iPad, Entrackment is a no-brainer. It’s cheap and it lets you control all the primary recording functions of GarageBand.

The Apple iPad will be available starting this Saturday – and it looks like the company has another hit product. Pre-orders are in the hundreds of thousands and iPad suppliers are forecasting 8 million to 10 million iPad shipments in 2010. That’s a lot of iPads – and a lot of people that will now […]

Via photographer Alexx Henry comes this behind-the-scenes look at the creation of a high-end “motion magazine” spread for the Apple iPad: With the iPad release a mere few weeks away, it’s only appropriate that we release our own bit of goodness. Together with co-directors Cory Strassburger and Ming Hsiung, we produced a motion magazine cover […]
