Rockifone’s Easy Recorder (App Store link) is a free iPhone app that turns your iPhone into a dictaphone-style audio recorder.Â
Easy Recorder doesn’t have a lot of features, but it lets you record audio at three quality levels and the price is hard to beat.
To sync recordings, Easy Recorder has a built-in Web server that runs over WiFi. This isn’t an elegant solution, but it works fine.

This app is great, except for syncing. It would be nice if it could just sync back to iTunes.

iProRecorder is a pretty serious recorder app, even tho it’s a couple of quid. Nevertheless, iProRecorder asks you to turn Airplane mode on to avoid incoming call interrupts rather than the auto save.
One problem for me is that any of the available audio recorders allows for controlling the input volume..this is serious drawback for me as i want to use it for recording band performances. i heard its a limitation of the Apple SDK but ive been wondering if there is a jailbroken app out there that lets me do this.

I’d like to use this to record some conversations with my father, but I’m concerned about syncing the files. Can anyone tell me what form the files come in when they are synced over wi-fi? Are they mp3s or WAV files? And why can’t they sync with iTunes? Thanks for the help!
The files are downloaded as .caf files. These are Apple’s “Core Audio Format” files. If you search around on Google you will find various applications to read these files, as well as to convert them into more readable formats such as MP3.
I had a problem where I recorded a 4-hour-long session. When I try to download the file, it never starts the download. Eventually, the iPhone resets.
